There are many consequences of stress, and its good to be aware of them. But what exactly are these effects, and how serious can they be? Stress that may not seem serious at first, if ignored, can become long term and lead to dangerous consequences. Stress that goes on for too long can have a negative impact on your health, career and family life. If you don't learn how to deal with stress in small doses, it often gets worse over time, and then it can be a real threat to your health and well being. If you deal with stressful situations as they arise, however, you can usually prevent them from mushrooming into long term issues.

Stress results in lack of sleeping, and that makes all problems worse, even the stress. Insomnia is basically being unable to sleep because of all the things on your mind.

Being agitated because of your problems can cause your body to be unable to lay still, keeping you awake. You will become more stressed out, and more tired during the day, and get none of your problems solved, by staying up all night thinking about them. In order to break the cycle of stress and lack of sleep, you need to at least resolve one of the problems, by finding a way to sleep, or by finding a way to lessen the stress, because you can't continue on with both.

Stress is the cause of many accidents on the road, as it can cause all kinds of irrational behavior. The phenomenon known as "road rage" is a good example of this. There's no doubt that driving can be annoying, frustrating and stressful, but it's also true that you can't do anything about most of these situations, so you may as well learn to live with them. A driver who is stressed out is putting himself at risk for speeding tickets, altercations with other drivers and accidents, not to mention high blood pressure and other health problems.

You will want to find ways to cope with stress when you realize all of the consequences that can be caused by stressful situations. There are many different health problems that all stem from stress, and that is the main reason most people go to the doctor. Of all of the money spent to find ways to deal with disease, and bad health, to think that the best solution or cure for most problems is simply learning how to cope with stress.
