Dawn's second angel is on the way

In the frenetic world of show business, one should be made of hardy stuff. Granted that it is glitzy and glamorous, it is still impossible to overlook the pressure that comes from being a part of this industry.

First, there's the need to always look beautiful for the adoring fans, and this includes being physically fit. After all, one must be fairly healthy in order to endure the demands of never-ending shoots, tapings, guest appearances, and other various commitments. Then, there's the need to be diplomatic and in control, despite real or manufactured controversies and intrigues.

Recognizing this side of show business, it is doubly refreshing to find someone that sticks to the rules of hard work, self-discipline, discretion, and professionalism. An actress who personifies this breed of showbiz celebrities is Dawn Zulueta. No wonder then that she has earned the admiration and respect of her peers and fans alike.

Such is the interest in and appreciation for Dawn that it becomes inevitable for people to discover more about her than being the beautiful and talented showbiz star that she is. Seeing that Dawn is also a responsible mother, fans have considered her as one of the most beloved moms in showbiz, and regarded her as a true woman of substance. As expected, she remains modest in the face of this adulation. "The credit goes to my husband Anton and son Jacobo for inspiring me further to become a better person," Dawn explained. "You know what they say: marriage and motherhood really do bring out the best in a woman!"

It's no secret that Dawn experienced slight difficulties when she was pregnant with Jacobo. Consequently, many of Dawn and Anton's family members and friends believed that the couple would be blessed with only one child. Now that the news is out that the celebrity mom is carrying her second child, everyone considers this as a most welcome and joyful surprise. In fact, calling to mind the difficulties and risks she had undergone during her first pregnancy, the actress describes having a second baby as an "unintended miracle." She confides, "I would just hope that this pregnancy, unlike the first time with Jacobo, will reach full-term. And so far, all my weekly check-ups and test results with my doctors are showing good signs of that happening."

Dawn will never forget the morning when she confirmed her second pregnancy. "I used a home pregnancy test kit," recalls the actress. "When the test gave me a positive result, I was so overjoyed!" Excited to share the good news with her husband, she remembers waking up Anton from his deep sleep. "He was a bit glassy-eyed at first. When the news sunk in, he sat up wide awake. He was very thrilled and grateful for the wonderful blessing."

"When I told Jacobo that I was pregnant, his face lit up and he was shouting: 'I will have a baby brother!'" the actress laughs at the recollection. "He would then keep talking to my tummy and caressing it as he watched it grow through the weeks. He's been so fascinated by this experience."

Familiarity aside, each pregnancy brings its own unique experiences: "we underwent some challenges during my first trimester, but now the pregnancy is coming along quite smoothly. All is well and right on track leading up to the July due date," Dawn revealed.

According to the latest ultrasound tests, that happy day in July will mark the birth of a baby girl. Although Jacobo had initially wished for a baby brother, the soon-to-be kuya was nonetheless thrilled. "He wanted to have a playmate for all his toy trucks and cars," explained Dawn. "But being the kind-hearted child that he is, it didn't take long before the idea of being the manong to a little sister grew on him!"

Dawn credits her team of doctors who are ensuring her safe pregnancy: "My medical practitioners are already quite accustomed to me, particularly the complications I had while carrying Jacobo. So they're being extra cautious now in assessing my medical treatments as well as being thorough with many tests-a preventive solution to another premature delivery," she affirmed.

Besides pre-natal care, her kids' nutrition is as much of a priority aspect in Dawn's motherhood. Because Jacobo was born prematurely, she researched extensively for the best milk supplement to aid in his development. After examining the options, the choice became clear. "I used Gain Plus Advance as the milk supplement for Jacobo early on," she explained. "It was the milk recommended by his pediatrician, so my own research among mothers I knew was validated."

Likewise, Dawn credits Jacobo's pediatrician with providing good advice, insofar as ensuring a proper and nurturing environment for her children are concerned. "It always begins from inside the womb; that is why I am very conscious of my own health during pregnancy. It's important to take the necessary steps to ensure the well-being and strength of an unborn child so that it will not be compromised."

While Dawn lives an extraordinary life as a celebrity, one thing that connects her to moms everywhere is her concern for the health and nutrition of Jacobo and her forthcoming daughter. In the final analysis, what is most endearing to fans is her hands-on approach in taking care of her kids. When we noted Dawn's substantial knowledge of facts about child care and nutrition, she laughed and proudly stated: "Well, dapat naman talaga, 'di ba? Because I love my kids!" Truly, her second angel is much eagerly awaited.
