something is wrong with my puppy's eye?

Today when i saw him in the morning i say that he was only looking through one eye. I looked closer to see that the hair in front of his left eye was stuck together meaning he could not open the eye. I tryed to touch it but he would move his hand and try to stop me and if i continued he would cry. What could have happened and should i take him to the vet because trying to cut the hair with a scissors might hurt his eye.

hi, yes he needs a vets appointment sounds like his has an infection- conjunctivitis, just like humans, bath it with cooled boiled water and a cotton ball, wipe from the inside of the eye out, using a new piece each time. This can be passed onto the other eye. You will need some fucithalmic eye cream, for your dog and possable some metacam.
Conjunctivitis is an inflammation of the conjunctiva, which is the tissue coating the eye and lining the eyelids. Normally, the conjunctiva is moist and glistening with tiny blood vessels coursing through the semilucent tissue. It serves as a protective barrier for the eye by trapping debris and helping to prevent invasion of viruses and bacteria.
Your vet may use a test where Fluorescein is used, this is a staining to detect superficial abrasions or ulcers on the cornea. Also a
Schirmer tear test this will determine if your dog is producing sufficient tears, unfortunalty my dog wasnt, but thats another story.
