It was a gathering of some eminent Nigerians at the Staff School Hall, University of Lagos last Thursday in honour of one great Okeigbo born Nigerian, Prof. Tolu Odugbemi, who in his capacity as a scholar and university administrator has in one way or the other touched the lives of many people. The event was the launching of the book A Textbook of Medicinal Plants from Nigeria edited by the celebrated medical scholar. Interestingly , the speakers , who graced and spoke at the occasion had one thing in common: the capacity - to salute a man variously described as a man of passion, excellence,,neatness, decency, beautiful and anything beautiful.
These attributes were also variously put on display as each speaker came foreword to tell of how the man, popularly addressed as Bro. Tolu at one time or the other affected him or his organisation positively.

The chairman of the occasion Mr Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the Chief Executive officer of First Bank Plc who was represented by Mr Kehinde Lawanson said that University of Lagos and First Bank have been in an enduring partnership. Though the bank does not have a branch in Unilag, he gave his promise that First Bank will soon open a shop in the university within one year.

The book reviewer, Prof. HOD Longe, the Dean Students affairs University of Lagos thanked the vice chancellor for deeming it fit to give an opportunity to a computer guru to do the review and expressed how the work has made him to know more about medicinal plants. He said that the 506 page book put together by the editor and 37 renown scholars encapsulates the work of medicinal plants in human life.
According to him, the book is a coordinated series of write ups and a neatly job of sound research by the scholars. He said that the book has all the answers to questions arising from herbal medicine in Nigeria and written in a very simple language that makes it possible for a computer scientist to review.The book, he said, is comprehensive, positively infectious and intellectually engaging .
