I know how you felt. 2 years back i had a severe case of eczema, that screws up your conjunctiva as well. Your sights gets blurry and your eyes get red and produce a lot of protein plasma.
If you're not well versed in the opthmawotwot you get scared shitless.
LOL at the new pic, you look like you just attended a ZCC conference and came back with a tender to sweep Park Station
Great piece of writing,Ndumiso ,I really enjoyed it, there are a lot of things we take for granted, sight, hearing, even life. Looking back at an accident I had recently where I was literally hit by the proverbial bus while riding my bicycle, it made me realise what I take for granted and what I have not yet seen - I'd love to see the aurora borealis for example and the Grand Canyon.
Dude, you are such a wuss, it is hilarious! I know those who have never seen you petrified won't find the image of you gripped by terror won't find this funny, but I do.
It is true though that we do not appreciate all that we can see, touch, smell, hear and most importantly eat and drink until it is taken away from us. Funny enough, I have such an experience that includes two things you mention in your piece 1) You would regret not being able to see New York and 2) You would miss seeing the gentle rise of bubbles on a Castle Draught (a tear-jerking site indeed).
I was privileged enough to experience both those things at the same time; I was on dinner (I called it a Booze Cruise) on the Hudson. Yes the skyline was beautiful and I did have a fleeting moment where I really felt in awe of the City, then I remembered that the beer that I had in my hand had cost me $4.50 effectively about R35 at the time - I then wanted to come home.
The Statue of Liberty ain't all that either if you have to miss meals in order to drink your daily quota of beer - your first love.
When our first child was born - my husband thought she was blind.
First I must explain that my husband is a Wuss! He was an only child, went to boarding school at age 9, and had no brothers and sisters, and actually believed in c**p like "a gentleman's word is his bond".
My first turned breach, so it was a Ceasar. Unfortunately they brought her out 2 weeks early. These things are done on scans of head size and she had my father's back of the head and her fathers's forehead (way over normal both of them). Born with no eyelashes, no eyebrows, and when he saw her covered in baby powder and fast asleep from my ansethetic, he convinced himself she was blind with no eyes.
He went back to work and asked my mom to phone him after her afternoon visit. First thing he asked was "What colour are the baby's eyes" to which my mon replied "all babies eyes are blue" which convinced him she had not noticed that the child had no eyes.
By the afternoon, he had planned the sale of his business, and mentally moved us all to Worcester to be close to the School for the Blind.
In the afternoon he was first in the door when the chain came down, waved me a hello and headed for the nursery. Luckily the anesthetic had worn off and she actually opened her eyes.
How do women cope with men?
Ive always said that "The Inevitability Of Our Departure Is Prevailant" soon we're all gonna leave this place, might as well make your mark. Do something someone will remember that thing you've always wanted GET IT. Might neva get a another chance.
Hey - what a glorious and precious realisation! I admire your sharing it because you could have been correct - I know people who have gone blind and who are blind from birth as we raise puppies for Guide Dogs.
Perhaps you would like to do so as well?
Comments about my Communist Party hat will be treated with the disdain they deserve.
I hope this is the last time I have to address this issue.
Adjusts his Mao cap and continues working.
This proves that life is valuable and we should enjoy while we still can because we don't know what tomorrow may bring. I love the new image though; it makes you look more like a cute nerd ...
You need to understand that there are things that come like an avalanche and we need to look beyond that, so even if you were blind believe me you would have obtain another good sense. God is Grandeur and he never gives us destitution that we cannot prevail over ...
At least the experience made you think twice!
@ Ant in Perth : so you were "literally hit by a proverbial bus". That is hilarious!
@ Ndumiso Today I just had a miraculous experience and I am grateful to God for it. You just reminded me that life itself is a miracle and we just gotta do what we gotta do and stop complaining.
