A three-vehicle accident Friday in Auburn, Cayuga County, killed one person and sent three others to the hospital. Killed in the 8:35 a.m. crash was Colleen A. Trousdale, 56, of Port Byron. Auburn police said she was westbound on Routes 5 and 20 when a northbound driver ran a red light at North Street (Route 34) and hit her car. Trousdale's car then struck a pickup.

She was taken to Auburn Memorial Hospital and then transferred to University Hospital in Syracuse, where she died. A 10-year-old passenger in Trousdale's car was hospitalized for minor facial injuries. The other drivers were treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said.

Boy, 2, falls from window

Police say a 2-year-old boy who fell from a second-story window Friday in Batavia did not appear to suffer serious injuries but was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital as a precautionary measure.

Officers responded at 8:50 a.m. to the Central Avenue residence.

The window, which did not have any security features, opened onto a small roof section. From there, it is a 10- to 12-foot drop to the grass below, said Batavia police Sgt. John Peck.

Police referred the case to the Department of Social Services.
