Johns Creek submits trail, sidewalk, bike projects

JOHNS CREEK - At the Johns Creek City Council meeting Jan. 24, council approved a resolution for the submittal of projects to MARTA and the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) for the allocation of approximately $1.17 million of MARTA Captial Reserve Funds for ARC Offset Projects. The projects include sidewalk, trail, bike connections, bus shelters, landscaping and signage within a half mile radius of all applicable GRTA stops in Johns Creek.
MARTA received $25 million of stimulus funding to use as operating funds in 2009 and in return, MARTA would give ARC $25 million of capital funds to program projects within MARTA service areas. Johns Creek's portion is anticipated to be about $1.17 million.
Johns Creek has a GRTA express route that runs from the Doraville MARTA station up to the Johns Creek Technology Park area. There are six areas that contain transit stops in the city: Emory Johns Creek Hospital, Johns Creek Parkway south of East Johns Crossing, Johns Creek Parkway north of Lakefield Drive, Medlock Bridge south of Abbotts Bridge Road, Medlock Bridge south of Medlock Bridge Parkway and Medlock Bridge south of State Bridge Road.
