Through highly interactive and hands on classroom experiences, this program gives participants the practical knowledge needed to start and run a successful business.
Classes are taught by professionals who actually work in their respective fields. Areas include: legal issues, taxes, deductions, financials, marketing, advertising, internet commerce, working with lenders, and much more. The program is also helpful to those who already have a business but now realize there is much they do not know.
Geared to micro-enterprises, current business successes include everything from hardware stores to internet businesses, from health care training to catering, house painting to photography.
This program has been developed to assist persons who are following a growing national trend toward self-employment. Statistics show that while in the 1990s much of the entrepreneurship involved a rush toward the high tech areas, that is no longer the case.
Today, entrepreneurs are succeeding in every area. These micro-businesses are in every industry, from mining to wholesale, from insurance to manufacturing.
Cost of the program is $100, with need-based scholarships available. The 2007 fall class begins Wednesday, Sept.

This ten week class meets Wednesdays from 6-8:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required. Class size is limited.
This program is open to all persons in Saginaw and surrounding counties. A local non-profit, five area banks and the City of Saginaw through its CDBG funds, are sponsors of the class.
