Gastric Bypass Surgery Health Dangers CHRIS MORRIS has lost the equivalent of a whole other person in weight and so drastic is the change that even her own sister did not recognise her.

The mother of three is slowly getting used to her new look after she lost ten stone in just eight months after undergoing drastic surgery.

As previously reported by the Daily Echo Chris underwent a gastric bypass following surgery to repair a chronic hernia.

As a result her stomach was reduced to a size of a peach. It meant that for weeks after the operation last summer Chris was only able to eat pureed up vegetables as her stomach adjusted to the procedure.

Eight months later Chris has dropped from a size 32 to 20 and the change is staggering.

She said: "It is quite amazing, and quite a big change. I go into meetings and people don't recognise me.

"I pulled up in a taxi alongside a car my sister was in and I waved at her and she didn't have a clue. I hadn't really seen her since I had the operation done and she said she really didn't recognise me."

Adjusting to her new diet has not been without problems. A lack of protein meant Chris was prone to passing out and having dizzy spells due to a low blood pressure. However, Chris, 54, has no regrets, and does not miss the curries she used to enjoy.

"I have stuck to the diet rigidly. I look at food a lot differently now," she said.

"It wasn't a vanity thing for me I needed to lose the weight for medical reasons. Feeling the way I do now and looking different has made it worth it."

At her heaviest Chris, of Albion Towers, Southampton, weighed 28 stone and has now dropped to 16st 2lb, but still wants to lose more.

"I think around 11 stone would be OK. I don't want to keep on losing weight to the point of looking anorexic. I am already seeing bones in places I haven't before," she added.

"When I get that done I think I will start to feel differently as my body still is a way off how I want it to be."

Foregoing curries and meals out with family and friends is far outweighed by the enjoyment Chris gets from shopping with her 11-year-old daughter.

"It is the first time I have been able to go into the same shops as my daughter and buy things together.

"I only ever bought clothes in big sized shops and they were mainly shapeless skirts, I never really wore trousers but I cant wait to buy my first pair of jeans."
