Ancient Healings

Ashe Baptist Executive Committee

The group will meet on Thursday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. at the Tuckerdale Baptist Church. All committee members and pastors are urged to attend.

Ashe Really Cares

On Tuesday, Oct. 5, the committee will meet for its quarterly meeting at the Ashe Baptist Conference Room at 7 p.m.

The annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner for ARC's 65 volunteers will be held Thursday, Oct. 21, at 6:30 p.m. at Friendly Grove Baptist Church in West Jefferson. Pat Miller, director, and David Blackburn, DOM, invite everyone to attend.

Bethany UMC

The church's annual bazaar will be held Saturday, Oct. 2, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Used treasures will abound in gently used glassware, furniture, kitchen items, books, pictures and many other goodies. There will be jewelry, cards, plants and craft items. Grandma's Pantry will feature frozen entrees, baked goodies, candies, jams, jellies and other homemade delights. The men will be serving up sausage biscuits and coffee for breakfast. The ladies will be serving a lunch of homemade soups and sandwiches. The church is located on Highway 194 in Baldwin.

Blue Ridge Worship Center

Revival will be held Friday through Sunday, Sept. 24 to 26. Services will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings. Sunday services will be at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. The evangelist will be Rev. Jay Price.

Edge Ministries

Emmanuel Baptist

The church will hold homecoming on Sunday, Sept. 26, with guest singers, The Solid Rock Quartet, beginning at 10 a.m. Worship service starts at 11 a.m. with guest speaker Dr. Barry Nealy. A covered dish meal will follow the worship service. The church is located at 13594 U.S. Highway 221 in Deep Gap.

A benefit bbq and hotdog supper will be held for Larry Trivette and family at the church on Friday, Oct. 8, from 5 to 8 p.m.Cost is $5 per plate, but all gifts will be graciously welcomed. Drive through is available. Larry was diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing treatment. He is only 52 years old, self-employed and has no medical insurance. Fit 4 Him

A faith-based weight loss and exercise program meets every Monday at 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. at Becky's Hair Boutique/ Ladybug at 420 East Main Street in Jefferson, next to the post office. Class instructor is Cookie Parker, LPN and LN. CPT. There is teaching from God's word along with practical behavior modification and nutritional facts for losing weight and keeping it off. Free Concert

Featured will be Restless Street and local band, Travis Hash and Borrowed Halo, on Saturday, Sept. 25, at Ashe County High School Auditorium. Special speaker, Joshua Stegenga, with His Scars To Our Scars, will speak. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the concert begins at 7 p.m. Both bands are Christian bands. His Scars To Our Scars is an organization with a vision to help those who struggle with depression, loneliness and thoughts of suicide escape the distortion that they are alone. The concert is free. Friendship Baptist

Director of Missions David Blackburn will be the guest speaker on Sunday, Sept 26, at the 10 a.m. worship service. Sunday school will be held at 9 a.m.

Fall Revival will be held with Evangelist Craig Church as the guest speaker, from Oct. 10 through 13. Sunday night service will begin at 6 p.m. and the remainder of the week the services will begin at 7 p.m. Special music each night.

Attention All Youth Pastors and Youth Leaders: Friend Fest 2010 Youth Rally will be presented by the church on Saturday, Oct. 2, at 6 p.m. There will be a youth rally and a free concert with Carl Cartee from Nashville, Tenn. Evangelist Craig Church will present the message at the end of the service. The event will be held in the sanctuary rain or shine. The festival will begin earlier in the day at 10:30 a.m. with an Ole Country Fair theme that will include hotdogs, cake walk, popcorn, snow cones, funnel cakes, face painting, ring toss and more games and booths. Hocus Pocus Focus

The NC Pagan Outdoors is gearing up for another weekend of Pagan community, family and fellowship at this year's event, set for Oct. 1-3. During this year's event, two members will be taking vows in a handfasting ceremony on Saturday evening. HPF will also host SpiralScouts International and the Tarheel tribe of NC. Workshops will also be held. There will be drumming and singing for the Jam around the Balefyre. Four meals will be provided. Cost is $30 per person 12 and up ($10 discount for prepaid pre-registration). Those 11 and under are admitted free with a paying adult. Jefferson UMC

The Jefferson United Methodist Church's Annual Fall Bazaar, Bake Sale and lunch will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, beginning at 10 a.m. at 115 East Main Street in Jefferson. The bazaar will feature homemade bakery items as well as jams, jellies, pickles, relishes, etc. Also featured will be handmade crafts, quilted anc crocheted items, quality art work, hand painted objects, friendship baskets, "Vintage and Period Jewelry," gently used books and magazines, collectible and antique dishes and more. Lunch will be available featuring homemade soups, sandwiches, desserts, etc. Coffee and desserts will be available throughout the morning. Parking is available on the west side of the church, off North Main Street and in the back, off Court Street. The bazaar is sponsored by the United Methodist Women and the funds raised will support scholarships for local students, community aid, spiritual growth, local, national and international missions, education, food pantry, etc.

Liberty Grove Baptist

Homecoming services will be held Sunday, Sept. 26, at 10 a.m. with Sunday School and worship at 11 a.m. A meal will follow the service. All members, former members and friends are invited.

Life Hurts God Heals

Life Hurts God Heals (LHGH) meets every Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Highlands Community Church located at 787 Ray Taylor Road, West Jefferson. This is a biblical eight-step study group for teens. Mt. Olive Baptist

A Missions Conference will be held Oct. 10 to 13. Kick off will be held Sunday, Oct. 10, at 11 a.m. with Larry Henderson with Church In Missions. Sunday evening at 7 p.m., World Changes, a youth missions group will be sharing how young people can get involved in missions nationally and internationally. Monday night at 7 p.m., short term missionaries Walter and Pattie Kittrell will be sharing their experience in Haiti and Lithuania. Tuesday night at 7 p.m., Samaritan's Purse will be sharing their work they are doing around the world and how you can get involved. On Wednesday, a foreign missionary will be there to share the call God has placed on their life and the difference it is making around the world.

Pilot Mountain Baptist

Revival will be held Sunday, Sept. 26 through Wednesday, Sept. 29. Rev. Ken Holmes will be preaching. Special singing each night. Services begin at 6 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.

Pine Swamp Baptist
