Children's Health Here's what is going on at the Jewish Community Center of the North Shore, 4 Community Road, Marblehead:

Purim Carnival draws crowd

Cohen Hillel Academy at the JCC.

The Planning Committee included Amy Alpert of the JCCNS, Robin Dale of Temple Sinai, Ann Navon, Jed Filler and Marla Gay, all of Congregation Shirat Hayam, and Ken Shulman of Cohen Hillel Academy. Children played all sorts of games, with prizes for every child, including ring toss, putting golf, games to test a child's skill throwing and kicking a football or basketball, "ring the gong" complete with a kid-sized mallet.

The kids also enjoyed face painting, mask making, moon bounce, and watching and listening to a stellar performance of the story of Purim set to up-beat music by the Shul of Rock Band led by Jed Filler.

"I want to express my thanks to the many people who helped made Sunday's Carnival a huge success. The dedicated planning committee came together to plan and deliver an excellent community event that went off without a hitch," said Tony Daniels, JCC acting executive director. "We were so thankful for the JCCNS staff - especially the maintenance crew - and community volunteers who helped us run the carnival.

"Most importantly, I want to thank all of the families who came. We had over 300 people attend and everyone had a great time. We're all looking forward to next year's carnival."
