BASEBALL
* SPRINGDALE SIGNUPS: The Springdale Kiwanis Cal Ripken and Babe Ruth Leagues will have signups for the upcoming 2008 season. Cal Ripken for ages 7-12 (players born prior to May 1, 2001 and on or after May 1 1995). Babe Ruth (players born prior to May 1 1995 and on or after May 1,1992). The signups will be held at the Springdale Youth Center on Jan. 26 from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is 85 per player. Scholarships are available if needed. YOUTH TRYOUT: Rogers Youth Baseball is looking for responsible persons at least 15 years old or older interested in making some summer money by scorekeeping and umpiring. Needing scorekeepers for age groups 10-15 year-olds. Looking for umpires for ages 7-15. If interested please come by signup every Saturday in February at RAC to fill out an application. UALR CAMPS: Arkansas-Little Rock coach Jim Lawler will host two preseason high school camps. * RACING FOR THE DREAM: The Evangel Temple Assembly of God Church in Fort Smith is hosting The Racing for the Dream 5K Run benefiting their new building "The Dream Center." * COACHING COURSE: An "E" License Soccer Coaching Course will be held on Feb. 1-3 at the Rogers Activity Center. This class is an 18-hour course that will start on Friday night and end on Sunday afternoon. The cost of the course is 30 for coaches that are registered with ASSA and 40 for coaches that are not registered with ASSA. ROGERS YOUTH LEAGUE: Rogers Community-School Recreation Association registration for the 2008 Youth Spring Soccer League will be taken until Feb. 15 at the Rogers Activity Center. Children ages 5-17 are eligible to participate. Children must turn 5 by March 1, 2008 to participate. The registration fees are as follows: Micro ( 35) and Under 7 and older ( 40). Each participant must have a current RAC membership ( 20). The membership is current for one (1) year from the date of purchase. All players must register even if they played in the fall 2007 season. * BENTONVILLE SIGNUPS: Bentonville Youth Softball League has announced signups for the 2008 spring season. Signups for girls 5-18 will be held at Apple Glen Elementary on Saturday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and Jan. 24 from 6-8 p.m. at Centerton-Gamble Elementary. Cost is 50 for a single girl and 85 per family. In order to be guaranteed a spot on a team this spring, you must be registered prior to Feb. 3. * PINNACLE JR. TENNIS PROGRAM: Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers will be offering an 8-week indoor tennis/fitness program at Central Park Elementary School for children ages 4 and up. It will be run by its head pro Jonathan Zielke. This program is designed to teach tennis and get the kids in shape.
