About 1-2 diet drinks a day or coffee with sweetener in it. I am 5'6 I weighed 140 pounds, GAINING from being like 120. I also exercised every day 2 plus hours a day so that was not the problem. NOW I eat organic natural foods from the earth....drink nothing but water, and herbal teas with little honey or natural sugars (german rock sugar, organic sugar) I weigh 112 pounds. I eat more of what I want now...I believe the study. Not only are artificial sweeteners dangerous (as mentioned above in a post on Rumsfelds article) I mean, put soda on your car and see what happens to the paint! All the people know that are overweight drink diet sodas, like HAVE to have at least 2 a day! Aspartame, Saccharin, Sucralose, Acesulfame K, and High Fructose Corn Syrup are all poison to your body...dangerous man-made additives! Dangerous for EVERYONE, including diabetics. Artificial sweeteners actually changes to formaldehyde in your body, yuck! Type 2 diabetes is easiest thing for your body to heal....refined sugars are the biggest contributer--exercise, losing weight, eating a healthy, natural diet free of refined sugars. Watch portions and eat natural! Type 1 is a different story, this is a total lack of insulin produced in your body. The treatment for type 1 diabetes is to introduce insulin to the blood, normally by means of injections, plenty exercise and the adoption of a high carbohydrate low fat diet. Both types, however, are connected with an excess of glucose in the blood, into which most sugars are converted. A diet low in sucrose will go a long way towards helping people that suffer from either type of diabetes, and control of carbohydrate intake should include a reduction in the intake of sucrose in the form or beet or cane sugar. This accepted, then if you need a sweetener, a saccharide free natural sweetener would appear to be the logical choice. Overall...the synthetic stuff CAN and SHOULD be avoided, its dangerous if eaten often Additional information:
